2008 witness

In the late 19th century, in Sierra Nevada mountains, ancient trees were cut down for timber bracing of silver mines around Virginia City, Nevada. Now weathered stumps line the Tamarack trail. I challenged myself to paint this watercolor with the three primary colors exclusively - alizarin crimson, hansa yellow and cobalt blue. Like the result.
